TRIBUTE TO ENGR. PROF. JUDE OBIUKWU DURU
Truly an icon has exited the stage of life and an iroko has fallen in the center of the forest. Today we the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), gather in deep gratitude and respect for the life our father, Engr. Professor. Jude Obiukwu Duru, a founding father of our Department and School of Engineering respectively. You were a visionary, shining light and indeed a hard-worker as you were instrumental in developing all the basic curricula for most of the courses in the Department and School respectively. As a retired Professor, Former Dean and Former Deputy Vice Chancellor (academic), your legacy is woven into every corner and fabric of our institution. You were more than a leader and mentor, thereby nurturing and raising Professors and inspiring countless students with wisdom, kindness and quiet strength. Soft-spoken yet impactful, your guidance and unwavering support/dedication laid a foundation for excellence, integrity and compassion that we will continue to cherish both now and forever.
Prof. Duru, you were a beacon of humility and strength, and your legacy will forever be in our minds. Thank you for your contributions to our Department and the FUTO community.
